Our honest advice is to not buy this item, because the pot already is one. Every fully documented ten item list in the record carries a cook pot, usually at the two quart cap, and a vessel that boils water also stores it. That is almost certainly why only seven gear entries across 187 tracked contestants in 19 season and spinoff files mention a canteen or bottle at all, against near universal carriage for the pot, the ferro rod, and the cutting tools.

When contestants did spend the slot, the convergence was on capacity, not manufacturer. Chris Weatherman's season 1 list holds the only named brand in the entire record, a large steel bottle, and Carleigh Fairchild carried an unbranded metal bottle of the same generous size to an 86 day second place in season 3. Two different seasons, no shared brand, the same big capacity choice. Two winners, Alan Kay and Nathan Olsen, carried bottles with no brand recorded at all.

So if this slot makes your list anyway, buy what the pattern describes: a large single wall steel bottle, because bare steel can sit in the coals as a second boil vessel while an insulated double wall cannot, and capacity beats cleverness when the water source is a haul from camp. The contestant who should consider it is the one expecting a dry camp far from water. Everyone else should let the pot do both jobs, the way nearly the whole field has.
